    Description

"OR GO DOWN IN FLAME--A NAVIGATOR'S DEATH OVER SCHWEINFURT" is about the second mission on Schweinfurt, Germany on 14 October 1943. Record numbers of Nazi fighters swarmed over unescorted B-17s and their crews. Here is the engrossing story of an American professor's quest to learn how his older brother was killed in the 2nd Schweinfurt Raid. His brother was 2nd Lt Elbert S. Wood, a B-17 Navigator assigned to the 306th Bomb Group's 369th Bomb Squadron under 8th Air Force. Here are the AMAZING results of years of research into Dr Wood's brother's death. He was shot down on the Schweinfurt Raid and did not survive. The Nazi Me-111 pilot who fired the rocket which killed him was found. He was buried in a German Village in which he fell. His remains were recovered and sent home to Missouri. Here is a TON of spellbinding research not only into Dr Wood's brother's death, but on the 2nd Schweinfurt Raid itself.  Some 600 crew members were lost along with untold numbers of B-17 bombers. TONS of information for those still wanting to know what happened to their loved one!
