Between January 1942 and April 1942, some 200 ships totaling 1,150,675 tons were destroyed by Nazi U-Boats on the Eastern Seaboard. U-Boat 124 with commander Jochen Mohr wrote his superios that he had sunk 9 ships off the North Carolina coast.
