    Description

    USMC VMB-413 "Four-Thirteen" Southwest Pacific WW2 Squadron Book. SIZE: 12 1/4"x 9 1/8"x 9/16". Approximately 110 black&white pages with green shamrocks throughout. There is no indication as to the identity of the printing firm. CONDITION: Binding is fair/good. Fabric cover shows a lot of use and handling (aka: dirty). Note the two extra grungy spots on the lower front. All corners of the cover show wear and tear. Damage to one corner of the spine (check photo #3). Pages are yellowed and a little wavy(humid environment?) as would be expected of a 77 year old book. Two fountain pen signatures by the original owner. A few pages have small (1/8"-1/4") tears. No missing pages noted. CONTENT: NAA PBJ-1s depicted from training to deployment and operations in the Southwest Pacific. Arrived in-theater: January 1944. Operated from Espiritu Santo, Stirling Island, Munda and Emirau. **PBJs appear in 75+ photos**. Includes a brief squadron history, "In Memoriam" page, photo portraits of the officers with their home addresses, 3 1/2 pages of song lyrics with many specific to the 413th and their experiences in the SW Pacific, R&R in Australia, ordnance, photo section, engineering and PBJs in action. USO troupe photos of Bob Hope, Frances Langford, Jerry Colonna and Jack Benny. Also has pages of "Where Does He Live?" with the stateside addresses of all the enlisted squadron members.
