Offered here is an original 1958 pressbook from Universal’s release of Orson Welles’ TOUCH OF EVIL. Unsure of how to handle this unique film, Universal sort of dumped it onto the market unceremoniously. It had already been taken out of Welles’ hands and meddled with, but in relatively short order it was recognized as a masterpiece, eventually undergoing a full restoration to Welles’ vision in 1998, based on a long memo he sent to the studio when the movie was first produced.
If you’re looking at this listing, I don’t need to recount the story or tell you how significant this film is, both in terms of Orson Welles’ ouvre or in the history of film noir. It is, in a word, magnificent.
This pressbook is 12 x 18m, 8 pages, complete and uncut. It has been folded across the center, as was typical. It’s in fine condition and would be a great addition to any collection of Welles or film noir material. It is up for a reasonable buy-it-now price, or make me an offer.
