Here we have "The Fledgling", a very interesting WWII era publication from April 1944. It is a school year book type booklet compiled by the Aviation Students of the 65th College Training Detachment at Syracuse University. These training programs were the precursor to college Air Force ROTC programs and were established to meet the demand for pilots since manpower from the former Aviation Cadet program had been exhausted during the war. This 32 page edition contains many photos depicting student life. It is in great, clean condition with all pages secured. The only mark is the cadet's name, Chester Fenno of Squadron F, marked on the first page. In addition, this listing includes a second copy of the same issue with a couple of pages missing plus the original,unused Fledging mailing envelope. There is also an 8" x 10" print of Squadron F with cadet names listed on the back. All in all this is a great historical piece.
