Description
"U.S. Navy Patter: Flight Maneuvers For Primary Training." First edition, 1942. From the estate of a Navy pilot and intelligence officer who was off the coast of Japan planning for the invasion when the atomic bomb was dropped -- please see the provenance below. An unusual book in the form of what you'd say to a student learning to fly a plane, from take-off to landing. About 8 1/2" x 5", heavy stiff cardboard cover, 51 pages, spiral bound, illustrated.Very good condition with minor cover wear. Pardon the glare from my lights! Navy pilot's name is written very small inside the P in Patter, and he has written "wow" on the pilot shown on the back. Tight binding. No bends, tears, folds or other damage.
A wonderful piece of history and an awesome addition to any collection. I ship every day the post office is open with your item safely packed for protection. I always combine shipping. Please see my store for more museum quality artifacts of history.
Provenance: From the estate of a Navy pilot who entered the war just in time to be stationed off the coast of Japan, preparing for the invasion, when the atomic bomb was dropped. He flew seaplanes, Martin Mariner PBMs, but mostly seems to have been kept very busy on staff with intelligence work. He was later a state representative and senator, and a successful businessman. He was a person who kept EVERYTHING. I recently acquired several hundred WWII pieces from his estate, along with a good amount of political, civil defense, cold war, and states' rights material.
